Can filing for bankruptcy save my home?

The answer to this question is not as clear as many sites and publications make it appear.  The short answer is yes a bankruptcy may be able to stop a foreclosure and save your home but there are many other issues involved the first of which is the type of bankruptcy being filed.  Any person considering filing for bankruptcy must consult with a West Palm Beach bankruptcy attorney to discuss their options.  If a potential bankruptcy debtor has regular income and can make the original mortgage payment plus an additional sum to cure the arrears over the course of 3-5 years it may be possible to save the home.  A bankruptcy debtor may also be able to file a Chapter 7 bankruptcy and obtain a loan modification once the case is filed but this strategy comes with issues that must be considered by a West Palm Beach bankruptcy lawyer.
