Will the lender/bank pay me money to short sale?

Depends. Some lenders are now offering cash payments to sellers to short sale or deed in lieu properties and to avoid expenses. The lenders are not required to do so and do not pay sellers in all transactions but some programs such as HAFA provide for these payments. We have seen many sellers receive 2-3K and have even seen 20K and 45K on expensive properties. While this does happen, the forgiveness of debt should be the main goal.
